The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is an open source, distributed blockchain which has been independently governed since 2018. Its native token is the XRP, a currency token which is the 5th largest crypto asset by market cap. Since 2012, the XRPL has enabled over 2.6B transactions without interruption. Fast transactions and low cost, in addition to a set of native primitives such as escrow, checks, NFTs, a native DEX and Automated Market Making, put the XRPL in a unique position to solve real-world issues efficiently.

XRPL Commons is a community-driven organization dedicated to nurturing a strong and vibrant XRPL ecosystem. Our mission is to empower and expand the XRPL community. We do this through training and active collaboration, with a focus on supporting developers, educators, and entrepreneurs.

As a Junior Infrastructure Developer, you will learn how to design, craft, and maintain infrastructure tools for blockchain. Guided by experienced mentors, you’ll collaborate with team members to hone your skills and contribute to high impact projects meeting the highest standards, helping us in our mission to encourage the broader adoption of XRPL.

Your responsibilities

‍

• You will learn about blockchain technology, its applications and the specifics of the XRPL stack
• You will participate in the design, and setup of hardware and software infrastructure such as servers, network devices, blockchain nodes, databases, API servers, load balancers and monitoring services. 
• You will create tools for the community, and help other builders using the XRP Ledger
• You will assist in managing and monitoring installed systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with the development team to automate deployment processes
• Maintain and ensure optimal operation of CI/CD tools
• Support the setup and maintenance of cloud-based resources
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• You will take part in the maintenance of key infrastructure component
• You will actively collaborate with other team members to understand requirements for new products and services 
• You will participate in code reviews You will draft technical guides and documentation 
• You will work alongside senior developers in troubleshooting and debuging issues

Requirements

‍

• Degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field 
• Proficient with a shell unix command line interface
• Proficient in at least one of Javascript/Java/Python/C/C++ 
• Introductory knowledge of distributed systems and networks
• A foundational understanding of DevOps principles and infrastructure as code
• A prior experience with at least one cloud services provider
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• A proactive approach to teamwork
• Good communication skills with proficiency in English

Nice-to-have

‍

• Passion for technology, especially in the blockchain domain
• Familiarity with XRP Ledger tools such as rippled, xrpl.org, and XRPL SDKs
• Experience working with other blockchain protocols, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum
• An experience or interest  in smart contract development
