Letter from Malta: Chain of Blocks Summit Recap

Covering topics from tokenization and NFTs to DeFi, the summit reflected XRPL’s innovation, collaboration, and growing global momentum. With live streams reaching thousands worldwide and in-person networking laying the groundwork for future European gatherings, it was more than a conference—it was a milestone celebration of what the XRPL community can build together.

The Chain of Blocks Summit in Malta, September 2, 2025, was a true celebration of the XRPL community—brought together by co-organizers Bithomp and SnwoMan, with key partners Xaman and XRPL Commons (Dolphin Sponsor) making this a genuine “by the community, for the community” event.

Community-Driven Organization

This summit succeeded in mobilizing a passionate mix of XRPL builders, Web3 founders, developers, and newcomers. The open, grassroots format set it apart from other industry events, encouraging active participation, knowledge sharing, and real collaboration. With organizational leadership, resources, and speakers from a wide range of community members and web3 influencers and vital support from XRPL Commons, the event delivered impact and momentum for all in attendance.

Announcements & Highlights

The headline of the day came from Wietse Wind, who announced and published live the new version of Xaman wallet. This upgrade introduced the highly anticipated “send checks” feature—meaning users can transfer tokens without recipients needing to set a trustline first, dramatically improving user-friendliness and making onboarding much easier for future XRPL adopters.

  • Viacheslav Bakshaev (Bithomp) showcased the  recent developments and new features on Bithomp.
  • Shane Calder (Aquarium Residency alum) gave a deep dive into real estate tokenization—highlighting how blockchain and on-ledger escrow can modernize property transactions for both security and transparency.
  • Robert Kiuru (Xaman) shed light on the most recent Xaman wallet statistics 
  • Cyrille Bourdeaux (XRPL Commons, Ecosystem Opportunities) rounded out the speaker list, highlighting all the different ways in which one can get involved in the XRPL Community, with a testimony from former Aquarium resident Mialy Ratsimbazafy on her experience in the incubator and her project aimed at improving financial education. Crypto Queen (Danella Draper) expertly moderated, keeping the action moving and enabling robust global participation. The entire summit was streamed live on X, where thousands tuned in —demonstrating XRPL’s global reach and growing influence.
